Position Summary/Job Description

We are looking for a talented data scientist with expertise and passion for solving difficult problems with ML-based solutions. You will design and build innovative new systems from the ground up. We need smart, self-motivated problem solvers to derive the solutions based on our customers’ needs. 

As a member of the team, you will take an active role in researching and implementing AI solutions while pushing the state of the art. In this role, you will keep yourself current on the latest AI approaches and specifically Deep Learning for Computer Vision, determining how to apply or extend these techniques based on our customer needs and engineering them for maximum performance, accuracy, reliability, and scalability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• BA or BS in a quantitative field (Business, Math/Statistics, CS, Engineering, or similar) is desired (with 5+ years of industry experience)
• MSc or PhD is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Data Science, including basic elements of machine learning, statistics, probability, and modeling.
• Applied knowledge of ML techniques/algorithms including linear models, Neural Networks, Deep Learning, Decision Trees, Bayesian techniques, Clustering, and anomaly detection (experience with Reinforcement Learning models is a plus).
• Experience with Data Science programming languages, such as Python, R, Matlab 
• Experience with developing Computer Vision and Image Processing algorithms in Python and OpenCV
• Experience with Deep Learning frameworks, such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Theano, and Keras
• Experience managing large volumes of data (terabytes or more) 
• Experience with participating in and/or leading project teams, specifically data science teams. 
• Strong written and verbal communications, ability to translate complex technical topics to internal and external stakeholders. 
• Ability to form strong working relationships with team members, cross departmentally, customers' technical teams, and executive leadership. 
  

Education & Experience (knowledge, skills and abilities)

• Completions and/or Reservoir engineering background
• 7+ years of offshore completion engineering experience with an Operator or E&P company
• Experience with hydraulic fracturing or other offshore stimulation techniques is a must
• Possess technical ability to synthesize multiple sources of data (geological data, treatment parameters, subsurface data, real-time fracture measurements, etc.) to perform detailed analyses and derive conclusions of stimulation performance
• Technical skills to demonstrate to customers the usefulness of the product and services
• Demonstrable experience in selling technology products to completion engineers
• Solid active network of contacts within international E&P companies & Operators
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills
• Results driven
• Thinker - NOT talker

Work Environment & Travel

• Standard office environment
• Occasional travel to conferences, client meetings, remote team meetings (< 30%).
